Shugborough Summer of Fun!
Come along and enjoy a sizzling Summer of fun at historic Shugborough, with activities for all the family!
For a terrific fun family day out this summer then the complete working historic estate of Shugborough in Stafford takes some beating and provides a whole host of fascinating and fun experiences for everyone to enjoy. To get you in the summer holiday mood there’s a seaside theme in the Museum, stirring up thoughts of sandcastles, ice cream and picnics! We’ll be displaying some splendid swimwear; there will be puppets for children to play with and the opportunity to have a go at Punch and Judy.
The Family Nature Trail starts at the Mansion House and takes you into the formal gardens and arboretum. Discover the rich wildlife and natural habitats of the estate as you try to solve clues along the way. You can also bag the free Bug Hunt Book which provides the lowdown on the creepy crawlies that enjoy the summer sunshine at Shugborough.
Elsewhere the RSPB will be on site every weekend throughout the school holidays offering fun activities for all the family to get involved in. There are loads of things to do so pick up our fun activity sheets to find out what you can get up to indoors and outdoors as you explore the estate.
Visit the craft workshops and have a go at candle dipping, watch the blacksmith in action, take a train ride, meet the friendly farm animals and enjoy a delicious ice cream in the ice cream parlour. Youngsters can also step into the past with the help of dressing up boxes and can have fun in the games gallery at the farm as well as getting elbow deep in curds and whey. In addition, children can experience lots of interactive fun in the newly-opened family galleries in the servants' quarters and take the brand new Sculpture Trail on the newly opened Island Arboretum.
We are also holding Teddy Bears picnics on the following dates throughout August: 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th. There will be a Teddy Trail running as well from 28th July until 3rd September at the farm and scheduled teaddy bear picnics on Aug 17th & 24th . There will be games, songs and stories. Children are encouraged to bring along their teddies to join in the fun. This will be alongside our daily programme of milling, baking, butter and cheese making, craft activities and story time for the children.
Shugborough also will be presenting an open air theatre production of the children's favourite Pinocchio on 25 August. On Bank Holiday Monday in August there will be even more fun with brass bands, Victorian games and carriage rides.
Shugborough's summer spectacular promises entertainment for everyone so don't miss out!
