Hand Fasting Ceremony
Fifty lucky couples will have a chance to take part in a mass medieval handfasting - all taking (or re-taking) their vows at the same time.
This is open to those already married who are perhaps seeking to
re-affirm their vows, perhaps celebrating a special anniversary or those who are
unmarried but wish to take part in the ceremony as a commitment. Open
to same sex couples too but contestants must be over 18 years of age.
IT IS VITALLY IMPORTANT TO STRESS THAT THIS CEREMONY IS NOT LEGALLY BINDING AND HAS NOT BEEN SINCE THE MID-15TH CENTURY.
The ceremony takes about 20 minutes and dates back far into history (mid 15th. Century) before marriage was a sacrament. It will be spectacular and winners will be invited to wear clothes that represent some of the castle's thousand-year history (Optional).
All those who take part will receive a certificate of their participation in this ceremony. This will take place just before the Royal Wedding.
