Armed robbery in Tamworth

An armed robber's stolen cash from a post office in Tamworth.

Detectives from Staffordshire Police have released CCTV images of the incident and are asking for the public's help.

At around 3.05pm yesterday (13 May) a man carrying a large black Sports Direct bag walked into Bolehall Post Office on Amington Road in Tamworth.

The man took out a weapon, believed to be a sawn off shotgun, from the bag and demanded cash. After the panic alarm was set off the man flees on a moped in the direction of Amington having taken a quantity of cash.

The suspect is described as a white man, about 5’6” tall and of slim build.

Anyone who saw a moped parked by the Post Office at that time or who witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the local area is asked to ring 101 quoting incident 461 of 13 May. Alternatively, for guaranteed anonymity, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
