A Burton man is one of two men jailed for the part they played in a prostitution ring in Derby

Geza Horvath, 33, of Borough Road, Burton and Daniel Zemencsik, 28, of Uttoxeter New Road, Derby, were jailed for a total of eight years and two months at Derby Crown Court on Tuesday, March 12.

The offences relate to a prostitution ring that what set up by the pair between May 2017 and April 2018, after they advertised for sex workers on various Hungarian websites and brought over a number of women who were forced to work as prostitutes.

The women were required to pay Horvath and Zemencsik a daily rate, as well as giving them half of their earnings.

Detective Inspector Andrea Parkin who led the operation into the offences said:

“Horvath and Zemencsik were solely concerned with making money at the expense of the women they exploited.

“The sentence they have received reflects the fact that this type of crime will be dealt with robustly.

“It is our hope that it goes some way to spreading the message that human trafficking and modern slavery will not be tolerated in Derbyshire.”
