CCTV appeal: Burton phone shop thefts

Police have released photos of two men they want to talk to about thefts at a mobile phone shop in Burton.

On 16 March at around 11:15am, three men went into the Carphone Warehouse store in the Middle Yard Retail Park in Burton and attempted to steal smartphones on display.

Whilst one man (pictured with the baseball cap) held the door open, two men stole an iPhone 8 Plus and damaged an iPhone 9 beyond repair while trying to steal it, before assaulting a member of staff as they escaped.

A second theft at the same store took place on 26 April at around 2:15pm when four men started pulling phones off the display units. The men got away with a Samsung Note 8, Samsung S9, Samsung S9 Plus and a Huawei P20. Two other phones were also damaged. The man pictured in the red and black jacket is believed to be one of the four men involved in the theft.

PC Kay Sparkes, from the Burton response team, said: "Both incidents caused considerable distress to the staff and customers and we're keen to track down those responsible. If you witnessed the incident or know the two men pictured, please call 101 quoting incident number 278 of 16 March. Alternatively, for guaranteed anonymity, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
