Police are appealing for information following a break-in at a church near the Derbyshire-Leicestershire border.
The incident is believed to have taken place between 6.20pm on Wednesday (7 August) and 9am the following day at the Breedon Parish Church on Melbourne Lane, Breedon on the Hill.
Damage was caused to the doors of the church (pictured) as well as a metal gate to gain entry.
Nothing has been reported stolen at this stage as police enquiries continue.
Nobody was in the building at the time, while no injuries have been reported.
Sergeant Lindsay Booth said: “This attack on an old and valued building is devastating for the community and we are carrying out enquiries to find the people responsible.
“This includes officers speaking to people in the area and working on CCTV enquiries.
“We urge anyone who has any information to make contact with us. If you have CCTV from around the area please check this to see if you have any information which could help.”
