Tributes to man killed in crash

Friends and family say a man killed in a crash on the Derbyshire/Leicestershire border was loved by everyone who knew him.

Richard Faulkner died at the scene when his car crashed into a tree on Derby Road at the junction with Heath Lane in Smisby early on Friday.

His friends and family have said: “Rich was loved by everyone who knew him.

“He was passionate about racing motorbikes, in particular at Donington Park and Jerez de la Frontera in Spain. He took pride in his lap times and was always pushing the limits to go faster.

“Rich took pride in his appearance and loved working out, lifting weights and watching what he ate to always look his best.

“He had been suffering with his mental health and later that day he was due to see healthcare professionals. His friends feel like he did not receive the treatment he required and this is being investigated.

“Rich was one of the most honest, loyal and trustworthy friend anyone could wish for.

“All of his friends will miss the fun nights out, the parties, the banter and his love for life.”

Officers are continuing to investigate the collision. Anyone with any information that could help is asked to call 101, or contact Derbyshire Police, quoting reference number 19*251095.
