Classic Hits and the Best of TodaySingle of the Week
This Weeks 'Single Of The Week' comes from the incredibly talented Eli Reed. The tracks called 'Come And Get It', I just think its a great bit of soulful fun!! We could have a young James Brown on our hands here....
Here's a bit about Eli from his website:
Eli "Paperboy" Reed started playing in high-school bands as a teenager in his native Boston and through a chance encounter moved straight from school down to Clarksdale in the Mississippi Delta to work at legendary blues radio station WROX. Whilst in Clarksdale he played various juke joints and lounges, including the Delta Blues Museum, and it was there that the grizzled veterans coined his "Paperboy" nickname as Reed explains; "I used to wear this hat, my grandfather's hat, a newsboy hat – it's retired now. Everyone in Clarksdale had a nickname. They gave me that one and it stuck with me."
Soon he moved on to studying in Chicago where he expanded his musical palette playing Sunday morning gigs behind the organ at a tiny South Side Chicago church before, full of confidence he moved to New York City and was soon headlining the coolest clubs in Brooklyn with his red-hot band.
After two albums, the word-of-mouth buzz on Reed reached fever-pitch, including Reed receiving a nomination at the 2009 Mojo Awards for Breakthrough Artist of the Year here in the UK. And now Capitol Records in the US, having secured his sought-after signature, are very excited to be releasing 'Come And Get It' through Parlophone Records in the UK.
