SWS Memorial Trophy

On December 6th, 2013 Maggie Stewart was on the way to her birthday party with her son Damian and her nephew Dion Walker-Smith when they were involved in a car crash at a notoriously disliked junction on the Trinity Road in Freasley - all three of them sadly passed away. Damian was 16 years old, Dion was just 15.

Dion’s mum, Angie Walker-Smith, immediately started campaigning for changes to the Overwoods Road and Trinity Road junction to ensure that nobody has to go through what she had to.

Touch FM are working closely with Angie to help with her campaign and along with the Tamworth Youth League, playing a charity football tournament on September 29th - the ‘SWS Memorial Trophy’ at St George's Park in Burton.

Dion and Damian lived and breathed football so what better way to remember them but by playing football. 15 teams will be taking part in the commerative tournament on the same pitches on which England would have trained on mere weeks before.
